I'm originally from Detroit, MI.

And no. I am not from 8 mile.

Daughter of Lora and Broderick. They met at The Michigan Court of Appeals (government love) and boom — here I am. I moved to Atlanta at the tender age of 17 determined to never be an entrepreneur, because my dad was one—and… why do you keep losing businesses, sir?

Now look at me. With businesses. 🙄

Anyway, Atlanta brought me to thee Clark Atlanta University and through internships, hustle, and showing up — my entertainment and media career took off.

A lil MTV red carpet action.

Record labels. TV networks. Celebrities. Radio. All the things.

I went back and forth between Atlanta and LA a few times chasing opportunities.

Turner Broadcasting. Cartoon Network. Radio One. CBS. iHeart. TMZ. Warner Bros. Studio. just to name a couple.

Life got really interesting when I became co-host of a nationally syndicated gospel show.

I felt like I was too much while also not being saved enough. The politics of the gospel music industry and church systems confused me a lot.

And eventually I outgrew the space. What my career and life have taught me is that — this ain't a one size fits all world.

Do what works for YOU.

We all want to be in a perpetual group project. And while I fully embrace community — I know we have to know ourselves first.

Here's what I believe:

Religion taught us to think faith instead of live faith. We don't embody the belief that God lives within us so we outsource our worth and power to everything and everyone outside of ourselves.

Instead of trusting ourselves we keep looking for someone else to confirm what we already know.

Validate who we are.

Tell us what we should do.

Demand what we should like and buy.

Confirm our greatness.

Celebrate our being.

All while not trusting ourselves or God living within us.

Seminary gave me language for the frustrations I was already feeling.

It gave me tools. And it gave me permission to stop hiding behind t-shirts, status, titles, money and brands and actually do the work I was called to do.
